Good quality images, but the exhibition is a bit lacking.

The centerpiece of the Portuguese Pavilion is the sea-themed video shown on the screen. The content, which discusses the history and culture of Portugal and the relationship between people and the sea, is presented in a subdued tone and provides an opportunity to quietly think about environmental issues. However, the presentation may seem a bit subdued and lacks elements of immersion and surprise.

Interactive exhibits are available, but the “Portugal” feeling is a bit weak.

The museum also has interactive exhibits that introduce the history of exchange between Portugal and Japan. However, overall, the number of exhibits was small, and there were few scenes where one could encounter cultural motifs (tiles, cityscapes, music, etc.) that one would associate with Portugal. If there had been a few more elements that made us feel a little more “Portugueseness,” it might have made a deeper impression on us.
By the way, there were souvenirs.

Egg tarts are worth a stop.

Even more memorable than the exhibit was the egg tart (custard) sold at the store next to the exit. When freshly baked, the crispy dough and rich custard were in perfect balance, giving it a truly “authentic” taste. The sweet dish gave a little satisfaction to the moderately sized display.

Summary|Quiet Pavilion. The trick is to adjust expectations and enjoy.

Although the Portugal Pavilion is not flashy in its presentation and exhibits, it is a pavilion suitable for adults who want to learn quietly through video and interactive exhibits. On the other hand, it may be a bit lacking for those who want to “experience the charm of the culture” and “enjoy in an easy-to-understand manner. We recommend stopping by for egg tarts as one way to enjoy the pavilion.
